Im not going to lie, buying nothing brand new hasn't been easy for me in the fashion department especially transitioning from one season to the next so this weekend I raided my husbands Salvation Army pile as he did his seasonal ruthless closet clean out. I was actually quite chuffed with my finds and how I could wear them.
Jeans (Straight cut and slightly baggy works best)
Scissors
Tweezors
Turn the jeans inside out and make cuts of various sizes wherever you want. I googled pictures of Ripped Boyfriend Jeans and copied patterns of pairs I liked. I found that making three horizontal cuts about 3cm apart in the middle gave the best result. Once you make the cuts you need to use the tweezors to pull the white thread through. The first threads will just snap & fray off but the aim is to get to the threads that expand the length of your cut joining one end to the other, which creates the white and dark blue contrast and adds to that "ripped up look" Totally up to you how many white threads you want to pull out. Once you have completed this over each cut put the jeans in the washing machine and dryer to help with more fraying. Role up the bottoms to expose a bit of ankle and wear with chunky boots or shoes with height to dress the look up and to lengthen the leg.
Lucky for me my husband is really tall and he's quite enjoying the slim longline Tshirt craze in the men's fashion world at the moment (like the one below from boohoo.com) This Tshirt had a few holes under the arms which I mended and found to be a perfect length for a casual dress. It's also longer at the back which is really practical when picking up a toddler all day.
The oversized shirt has to be one of my favorites, a merino layer underneath, a pair of skinny jeans and boots = a new winter outfit.
